Hello! I hope that everyone had a great start to the school year!
I had a hard time letting go of summer, which is usually not like me. I am all about appreciating the season for what it is, and at the end, thankful to get back into the school routine. But this year was different.
Here I talk about how August has been traditionally synonymous with anxiety at the Detroit News MichMoms blog. I also talk about how I tried to seize the last moments of summer.
Because I could not stop writing about it, I also talk about the end of summer at Mommy on the Spot. I also write about the week of firsts as we started school in a new district. Everything went pretty well, minus the bus incident.
In parenting news, I wrote a post about an interesting conversation I had with my daughter regarding Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s song Same Love. Side note: it is frustrating that the flashy Miley Cyrus performance shadowed such a great moment at the VMA’s as the duo sang their powerful song.
I also had an opportunity to interview Shirley Cress Dudley for The Mother Company about creating healthy blended families. She gives some very sound advice in building happy blended families.
In a completely different direction, I want to share that I will be speaking at the Rochester Writers’ Conference. If you are in the area, I would love to see some familiar faces in the crowd. I will also be speaking at the Walsh College Open Source meeting this week, too!
That is about it for me – what is new with you?
